Livelihood cluster responds to onslaught of Typhoon Pablo

The onslaught of Typhoon Pablo (Bopha) in the provinces of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental affected the livelihoods of thousands of farmers and their families. Agriculture and agricultural industries, service sectors and infrastructure are among the critical areas for livelihood recovery.

The need for assistance to rebuild livelihoods after Typhoon Pablo (Bopha) is now urgently requested. In response, the Livelihood Cluster will convene to assess damages and losses on livelihoods and to discuss efforts and responses related to employment and livelihoods.

The Livelihood Cluster brings together agencies working on employment and livelihoods after Typhoon Pablo (Bopha). The ILO co-convenes the Livelihood Cluster with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) of the Philippines.

The Livelihood Cluster involves national government and the local government, employers and workers organization, non-government organizations, development partners, the United Nations and its sister agencies, specifically the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Food Programme (WFP) to help typhoon-affected families and vulnerable groups.
