SWOT exercises

One of the activities of the US State Department funded ILO Freedom of Association Project, is the undertaking of a series of SWOT exercises to examine the institutional needs of our social partners to engage in good faith collective bargaining and meaningful social dialogue.

On 17th October 2012, a national workshop for trade unions to look at the issues from the national level took place, and now the trade unions are conducting a series of local level assessments. Following which, our resource partner will undertake a review and provide a report based on the representations of the trade unions. In November 2012, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) also commenced the exercise, but from the employers’ perspective. The results of these exercises will be known in the early part of 2013 and with it, the ILO and social partners will be able to assess what steps need to be taken for the future to work towards greater cohesion in Philippine industrial relations.
