Partnerships on the ground are crucial in delivering services to help end the worst forms of child labour. The International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) has established direct partnerships with 14 local agencies and organizations. They serve as implementing partners for specific projects on, among others, education, psychosocial counselling, health and family development. All of them are focused on a common objective – to withdraw and prevent a set number of children from child labour and to increase the affected families’ resolve to resist it.
IPEC has put in place several mechanisms at different levels to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of on-going efforts against child labour. One of these mechanisms is the National Partners Forum, which will serve as an avenue to share accomplishments, experiences as well as ideas to overcome challenges. Partners will share success stories and lessons learned which in turn facilitates effective implementation on the ground.
The National Partners Forum is primarily designed to tackle more deeply issues related to sustainability. It will be divided into parts: the first will be for partners involved in education, psychosocial and integrated service delivery/child labour monitoring (ISDS-CLM) initiatives and the second will be for all implementing partners and officials from strategic line agencies of government and the IPEC Project’s main partner on livelihood development.
