Demographic survey of overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong

Socio-economic and demographic survey of overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong

This report presents the results of the survey conducted in Hong Kong from June 1, 1997 to July 31, 1997. The survey results will generate a baseline for the government to plan for a comprehensive approach and support programmes for economic and social reintegration of migrant workers into the Philippine economy and society.

The survey was conducted among the Filipino domestic helpers (FDH) in Hong Kong particularly those with plans of returning to the Philippines within the 18 months. Over 3,000 questionnaires were distributed to the FDH through the different OFW associations in Hong Kong as well as in the two Bayanihan Centers (Kennedy Town and Kowloon) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Centres.
