Entrepreneurship skills training programme for Filipinos health professionals

Entrepreneurship skills training programme for Filipinos health professionals

The training programme – HealthBiz: returning home to your business has been developed by the ILO-Decent Work Across Borders Project with the leadership of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs, one of the attached agency of the Philippines’ Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). This initiative has received the financial support of the European Union.

The training builds on the ILO’s prior knowledge on entrepreneurship skills development and its three flagship training programmes on: (a) Start and Improve your Business (SIYB); (b) Community Business Entrepreneurship Development (C-BED); and (c) Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprise (SCORE).

The training programme was designed to enable health professionals to draw up a simple business idea and plan for the health enterprise they may wish to start. However, in order to produce a business plan, people need to have a clear idea of the business they propose to start. This was what the training programme was all about: to guide potential new health entrepreneurs through their business thinking process. The programme enables potential new micro and small entrepreneurs to generate and analyze their business ideas and select the best one, before turning it into a more concrete business plan.
