Prevention of human trafficking and protection of domestic workers

Promotion of Equality and Decent Work for Women: Prevention of Human Trafficking, Protection of Domestic Workers and Capacity Building for Gender Equality

Funded by the Government of Norway, ILO works with social partners in supporting DWCP outcomes through a programme that has contributed to the prevention of human trafficking, the protection of domestic workers and capacity building for gender equality.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) works with social partners in supporting the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) outcomes through a programme that contributes to the prevention of human trafficking, the protection of domestic workers and capacity building for gender equality.

The programme has contributed to improving the legal and policy environment in the country, and strengthens its institutions. It has supported partners to design a national campaign on Decent Work for Domestic Workers, build consensus around a unified Philippine position for discussions of an international labour standard for the sector, lobby for the passage of a national Domestic Workers Bill, and contribute to building the capacity of stakeholders and service providers on the use of a system to refer and log cases through an anti-trafficking database.

The programme has provided a platform to promote tools on gender equality through a participatory gender audit, local economic development, and gender and development guidelines.
