Promoting youth employment in the Philippines

Promoting Youth Employment in the Philippines (PYEP)

A Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)-funded project that sought to facilitate the creation of employment opportunities for young women and men in the Philippines.

The Project was based through a four-pronged strategy to: (a) improve the national youth employment policy and action agenda; (b) strengthen capability of institutional partners to provide employment services to more youth, especially women; (c) broaden the range of effective models of providing youth employment support services; and (d) enhance the knowledge base on youth employment through improved documentation and adoption of best practices in the delivery of youth employment support services.

Key government and non-government institutional partners received support from the project for organizational strengthening for more effective implementation of demonstration projects that helped promote entrepreneurship, improve employability, facilitate employment creation and advocate equal employment opportunities. Knowledge materials were produced to assist both institutional partners and target youth beneficiaries, while documentation of the supported demonstration projects helped in disseminating lessons learned.
