Events, meetings and trainings

  1. Sta Elena Irrigators Services Association (SEISA) irrigation canal rehabilitation and de-silting worker-beneficiaries’ project orientation

    15 April 2015

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), with the support of the Government of Norway, partnered with the Sta Elena Irrigators Services Association (SEISA) in the municipality of Tanauan, Leyte to repair 250 metres of damaged irrigation canals, rehabilitate plume posts, and de-silt five kilometers of irrigation canals.

  2. Nepal Government Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Study Tour

    13 - 17 April 2015

    The International Labour Organization Country Office for the Philippines (ILO CO-Manila) in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) in Nepal organized a five-day exposure mission to the Philippines for Senior Government officials from MoLE.

  3. Assessment Based National Dialogue (ABND): Island-wide Multi-partite Consultation (Visayas)

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for the Philippines conducted the Social Protection ABND island-wide multi-partite consultations in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

    The Disease Prevention and Control Bureau (DPCB) of the Department of Health (DOH) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) conducted a four-day training workshop on the “Prevention of Pneumoconioses using the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses”.

  9. Programme for Local Economic Development through Enhanced Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE) Advisory Committee Meeting

    The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) will meet as agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding between ILO and BDA (Bangsamoro Development Agency) for the implementation of the PLEDGE Project. The PAC will provide policy guidance and future directions to the PLEDGE project.

  10. Skills Development and Placement Opportunities for Tourism in Cebu (SPOT Cebu) Trainees’ Orientation

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cebu (PGC) and the St Jude Foundation (SJF), and with funding from the Government of Japan and the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC), trained 350 individuals (275 women, 75 men) in various tourism-related skills (beauty care, cookery, and tour guiding).

  11. Zamboanga Internally Displaced People (IDPs) Recovery, Rehabilitation and Development Plan for Livelihood and Food Security Cluster Workshop on Coordination and Decent Work Principles and Standards

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations initiated a one-day workshop for the food security and livelihood cluster in Zamboanga City last 3 March 2015.

  13. ILO, FAO and Save the Children and Stakeholders Conclude Activities in Four Municipalities in Western Leyte

    A culminating event entitled “Working together to build more resilient farming communities” was conducted on 18 February 2015 in Ormoc City. The event was a gathering of partners and stakeholders to showcase results of the DFID-funded project’s assistance package, which supported the livelihoods of more than 3,500 individuals affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

  14. Second consultation with labour attaches from Cambodia, Laos Myanmar based in Thailand

    The International Labour Organization ASEAN TRIANGLE Project and the Ministry of Labour, Thailand, have launched a series of consultations with labour attachés and embassy officials from Cambodia, Laos PDR and Myanmar now posted in Bangkok to strengthen dialogue between the ministry and labour attaches and consular officials. The 1st consultation workshop was co-hosted by the MOL and ILO on 13 June 2014. It aimed at familiarizing labour attachés and consular officials with issues relevant to the protection of their migrant work force including Thai labour laws and policies, registration procedures, complaints mechanisms, international labour standards, and the role of labour attachés. In addition, the workshop also set the objective to strengthen relationships, facilitate communication and develop synergies between the embassies, authorities, social partners and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).   15. Philippines Employment Projections Model (PEPM) 2015 Inception Mission

    An ILO mission was conducted in February 2015 and involved meetings and consultations with DOLE and other partners and stakeholders, to discuss the proposed features, work plan and timelines for the Philippines Employment Projections Model (PEPM) 2015.

  16. The International Labour Migration Statistics (ILMS) Database for ASEAN (ASEAN Labour Migration Statistics) is now on the Asia Pacific Migration Network!

    1 February - 31 December 2015

    The database, created by the Canadian Government-funded ASEAN TRIANGLE Project, gathers together a range of statistical sources relating to international migrants and international migrant workers in the ten ASEAN Member States in order to fill an important knowledge gap.

  17. Strengthening Collective Bargaining in the Philippines

    28 - 29 January 2015

    To strengthen Freedom of Association, Trade Unionism and Collective Bargaining, tripartite partners must work together to develop a comprehensive and coordinated range of options that would enable them to make informed choices and arrive at a consensus for strategic reforms.

  18. Regional Conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking

    27 - 29 January 2015

    The Regional Conference on the Labour Dimensions of trafficking provides an opportunity to facilitate coordination and cooperation between the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW) and the Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOM-TC) on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons. The SOMTC currently drives the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on Transnational Crime, ASEAN Plan of Action to Combat Transnational Crime, and Work Programme to Implement the ASEAN Plan of Action to Combat Transnational Crime. The ACMW’s workplan recognizes complementarity areas of work of its committee and SOMTC, and calls for coordination to avoid duplication of efforts.

  19. DOLE and ILO Hold Consultation Workshop on Policy Reforms in Collective Bargaining

    Results of the two-day activity were harmonized proposals on collective bargaining reforms, non-standard forms of employment and protection of unions against anti-union discrimination and interference, for consideration at the National Industrial Peace Council (NTIPC) level.

  20. Roundtable Discussion on Gap Between Age of Compulsory Schooling and Minimum Age for Work

    21 January 2015

    The forum was attended by workers' groups, the Employers' Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and key government agencies. The group agreed to further explore the scenario of allowing children from 15-17 years old to work and study at the same time.
