Events, meetings and trainings

The ILO Country Office for the Philippines organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. Community-based Enterprise Development Workshop to Enhance Green Charcoal Enterprise in Tolosa, Leyte

    11 - 13 July 2015

    With the support of the Government of Norway, the ILO Tacloban team conducted a Community-based Enterprise Development (C-BED) workshop in Barangay Opong, Tolosa, Leyte. The participants included worker-beneficiaries of the Green Charcoal Briquetting Facility, a sub-project supported by the ILO in partnership with a local organization called the Women in Development Association, in the same barangay.

  2. San Victor Elementary School (SVES) facilities rehabilitation worker-beneficiaries’ project orientation

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with Uswag Kita Inc., and with the support of the Government of Norway, repaired some of the teaching facilities of the San Victor Elementary School (SVES) in Barangay San Victor, Tanuaan, Leyte. Rehabilitated were the Social Hall, the Home Economics room, and a Grade VI classroom.

  3. Validation Workshop on Study on Child Labour and Social Protection

    The Country Level Engagement and Assistance to Reduce Child Labor (CLEAR) Project held a one-day workshop to discuss and validate the results of the study on "Review of the Effectiveness and Potential of Social Protection Programs in Addressing Child Labour in the Philippines".

  4. Global Commemoration of World Day Against Child Labour and the Philippines' Celebration of Independence Day

    12 June 2015

    In support of the global commemoration of World Day Against Child Labour and the Philippines' celebration of Independence Day which both fall on June 12, a free concert was held at the Open Air Auditorium of the Luneta Park from 4:00 to 10:00 pm. Dubbed, "Batang Malaya: A Gathering to Fight Child Labour", the event will feature The Dawn, Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dencel, Dicta License, Brass Pas Pas Pas, Kai Honasan and Reklamo. The activity aims to use music to educate the public about the issue of child labour and how this can be effectively addressed so that children can be free to enjoy their rights. This is organized by ILO in partnership with RockEd, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC).

  5. Watershed rehabilitation worker-beneficiaries’ project orientation in Pinabacdao, Samar

    10 June 2015

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pinabacdao, Samar and with funding from the Government of Norway, rehabilitated thirty-six meters of pipeline in Barangay Lale to restore the flow of water to 4,000 families in the Municipality of Pinabacdao.

  6. Meeting with the Workers Group of the Domestic Work Technical Working Group and Implementing Partners of the Domestic Workers Empowerment Programme

    10 June 2015

    This meeting convened all the workers group representatives under the Technical Working Group on Decent Work for Domestic Workers (Domestic Work TWG) and other partners who form part in the implementation of DWEP. The meeting was attended by representatives from trade unions, informal economy/ sector group, domestic workers representatives, civil society organizations, external consultants and ILO.

  7. Assessment-Based National Dialogue (ABND): Rapid Assessment Protocol (RAP) Workshop

    2 - 3 June 2015

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for the Philippines conducted the RAP workshop last 2 to 3 June 2015 at the Discovery Suites Hotel in Manila.

  8. Community-based Enterprise Development (C-BED) Training for Cluster Partners in Zamboanga City

    2 - 4 June 2015

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) carried out training to capacitate members of the food security and livelihood cluster on Community-based Enterprise Development in Zamboanga City.

  9. Decent Work for Domestic Workers Begins at Home Campaign

    1 - 30 June 2015

    In support of the global campaign to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the adoption of the Domestic Workers Convention (No. 189) 2011, on 16 June 2015, ILO officials from Manila Office joined their colleagues around the world in raising awareness of domestic workers’ rights and responsibilities as employers of domestic workers, with a simple gesture of taking photos holding the campaign signs with either their domestic workers, loved ones or friends.

  10. Partners' Meeting and Assessment Session on the Implementation of the Domestic Workers Empowerment Programme (DWEP)

    29 - 30 May 2015

    The ILO and Blas Ople Policy Center and Training Institute jointly organized a two-day culminating activity to convene implementing partners of the Domestic Workers Empowerment Programme (DWEP) in the country and provide a platform for sharing lessons from implementation that seeks to address the vulnerabilities of domestic workers by focusing on self-empowerment and economic rights of domestic workers.

  11. Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar Agree to Take Actions to Develop Migrant Welfare Fund Programmes

    26 - 27 May 2015

    In line with the ASEAN TRIANGLE Project’s workplan with Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar (CLM), a workshop was convened to disseminate and validate the findings of a feasibility study and an operational blueprint that looked into how CLM may establish Migrant Welfare Fund (MWF) programmes.

  12. Training-Workshop on Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining for Tripartite Members, Prosecutors and Investigators Handling Labour-related Grave Human Rights abuses

    25 - 27 May 2015

    Results of the Training-Workshop included recommendations on how to improve field and national level coordination between tripartite monitoring boards and government bodies involved in the investigation and prosecution of cases of extra judicial killings, enforced disappearances and other grave human rights violations, including alleged labor related cases. Inputs on how to integrate principles of freedom of association and collective bargaining, relevant laws and procedures in training materials for composite teams of prosecutors and investigators handling such cases. These recommendations have been endorsed to the DOJ for consideration, as chairperson the Inter-Agency Committee on Extra-Legal Killings, Enforced Disappearances,Torture and other Grave Violations of the Right to Life, Liberty and Security of Persons.

  13. Workshop on Updating the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2012-2018

    The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in the Philippines in partnership with the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) conducted the workshop on updating the UNDAF 2012-2018.

  14. Joint ILO- FAO Mission to Zamboanga City

    14 - 15 May 2015

    The ILO and FAO combined to visit Zamboanga City in preparation of starting activities under a joint UN project.

  15. Assessment Based National Dialogue (ABND): Island-wide Multi-partite Consultation (Luzon)

    7 - 8 May 2015

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for the Philippines conducted the Social Protection ABND island-wide multi-partite consultations in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

  16. Community-based Enterprise Development (C-BED) Workshop for ILO Partners in Cebu

    C-BED is an innovative ILO training programme intended to strengthen the business and financial skills of aspiring entrepreneurs and small enterprise owners.

  17. Presentation of Preliminary Results of the Stakeholders WorkshopTowards a Participatory Impact Assessment of Domestic Workers Situation in the Philippines

    ILO and its technical team organized a meeting with the with the tripartite-plus Domestic Work Technical Working Group, to present the preliminary results from the Stakeholders’ Workshop towards a Participatory Impact Assessment of the Domestic Workers’ Situation in the Philippines, which was held on 24, 25 and 28 April 2015, at St. Francis Suites, Mandaluyong City.

  20. Stakeholders Workshop Towards a Participatory Impact Assessment of Domestic Workers situation in the Philippines

    24 - 28 April 2015

    This workshop aims to assess the outcomes of the Batas Kasambahay and changes in the domestic work sector since its enactment by developing impact assessment methodology relevant and suitable to the priorities of the Philippine stakeholders and national context.
