Compulsory schooling and minimum age for work

Legal Options to Address the Gap Between Age of Compulsory Schooling and Minimum Age for Work

Given that age of compulsory schooling is now up to 18 years old because of Republic Act No. 10533 and minimum age still is at 15 years old, the study recommended measures to ensure that children aged 15-17 who work still stay in school and graduate. Towards this direction, a committee was set up to lead in the drafting of amendments to Republic Act No. 9231, the anti-child labour law. The workshop was attended by around 38 participants coming from the government, employers, trade unions and civil society.
