Food security and livelihood workshop in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga Internally Displaced People (IDPs) Recovery, Rehabilitation and Development Plan for Livelihood and Food Security Cluster Workshop on Coordination and Decent Work Principles and Standards

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations initiated a one-day workshop for the food security and livelihood cluster in Zamboanga City last 3 March 2015.

International Labour Organization (ILO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations initiated a one day workshop for the food security and livelihood cluster in Zamboanga City last 3 March 2015. The workshop focused on coordination and ensuring decent work principles and standards were included into livelihood interventions in partnership with Zamboanga City Government and Ateneo de Zamboanga University. The workshop was attended by different humanitarian agencies, international and national non-government organizations (INGOs) working in Zamboanga internally displaced people (IDPs) recovery and rehabilitation, together with national government agencies and Zamboanga City government offices.

The workshop aimed to give members a better understanding of Decent Work principles and embedding it through the Projects, Programmes and Activities (PPAs) of the major proponents (government agencies/offices and INGOs of livelihoods and food security sector. It was also designed to strengthen the coordination and organizational structure of coordination for the livelihood and food security sector. Moreover, it would clarify the roles of Cluster Leads/Co-Leads and focal person(s) of the sub clusters. These roles have now been set and persons identified. And lastly, to formally operationalize the organizational structure of the cluster, and to consolidate all livelihood and food security intervention for the IDPs through creating a collated work plan of activities for the livelihood and food security cluster from March-December 2015.

The next step is to refine and agree to the Terms of reference for the sectors and sub-sectors, which will then be endorsed by the city government and made binding through a city government memorandum circular to all agencies.
