Philippine Tripartite-plus Stakeholders Assessment Workshop on Ethical Recruitment in the Health Sector

Conduct of a workshop to gather relevant stakeholders and their inputs to the Country Report based on the Code of Practice monitoring worksheets.

International Labour Organization, with the leadership of the Philippine Department of Health and the Department of Labor and Employment, and in partnership with the World Health Organization supported a multi-stakeholder workshop conducted last May 17, 2012. The aims of the workshop were to:

a. Engage relevant stakeholders (government agencies, trade unions, professional organizations, hospitals and recruitment agencies) in parallel discussions on the implementation of the Code of Practice on International Recruitment of Health Personnel in the Philippines.

b. Consolidate responses of stakeholders on the National Reporting Instrument, additional information or comments on the tool and experience of the Philippines on the migration of health personnel as inputs to the Country Report.

This was attended by more than 50 representatives from the hospitals, health professional organizations, trade unions, recruitment agencies and government. These same stakeholders will be attending another workshop on May 30, 2012. The objective of this follow up activity is to provide feedback on the Philippine Country Report prior to its submission to the World Health Organization by the end of May.
