Local service providers to effectively respond to migrants' needs

Training-workshop for Local Service Providers to Effectively Respond to Migrants' Needs

The ILO-EU Return and Reintegration Project will conduct training-workshops for OFW/Migrants’ Desk Officers and/or Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers, as well as other relevant officials from the Provincial Governments of Ilocos Sur and La Union. These will be on 7-9 and 12-14 March 2012 for the Provinces of Ilocos Sur and La Union, respectively, to be held in Baguio City.

In line with one of the strategic interventions of the Project which is to enhance existing institutional mechanisms for migrants, and upgrade the capacities of local service providers to effectively respond to the needs of migrant workers during the migration process—from recruitment to return and reintegration.

At the end of the training, it is desired that participants shall have: (a) acquired a deeper appreciation of the country’s migration policies and structures; (b) understood the programmes and services available for migrant workers at every stage of the migration process, and how to access them; and (c) appreciated the value of basic employment services as a mechanism to facilitate the economic reintegration of return migrants.
