Training on Maternal and Child Health Care for Barangay Health Workers of San Narciso, Quezon

The Barangay Health Workers (BHW) training on Maternal and Child Health Care (MCHC) aims to enhance local capacity to assist in Public Health service delivery particularly on women’s health and safe motherhood which is an important component in reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. The first level MCHC service delivery occurs at the barangay hence the role of “trained BHW” is also essential for the success of MCHC programme.

The BHW in particular will have a “tour of duty” in assisting midwives and Municipal Health Office (MHO) staff in operating the birthing stations. The Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) supports the construction of birthing stations. Barangay Health Workers and officials of the Provincial Health Office, Department of Health Region IV-A Extension Office and the Municipal Health Office of San Narciso, Quezon are expected to join the training.
