The Greener Business Asia and Green Jobs in Asia, two projects currently being implemented in the Philippines by the ILO, has conducted an initial capacity building training package for ILO constituents, entitled Foundation Training on Green Jobs and Greener Business Forum, from 19-21 July 2011 at the CSB Hotel in Manila. The participants, composed of representatives from workers and employers groups, DOLE, as well as other key partners from government (CCC, NEDA, DTI among others) will be introduced to the conceptual framework that provides the foundation for initiatives promoting green jobs and principles of a just transition.

At the broad level, the subject areas covered in the training will include (1) Concepts related to climate change, principles of sustainable development and green jobs; (2) International and National policy framework, particularly as it refers to the climate change and environmental challenges; and (3) ILO Green Jobs initiative.

The first two days will form the foundational part of the training, ultimately leading to the discussion on experiences of constituents and relevance and role of their role towards promoting green jobs.

The third day will be a session focused on greening enterprises and industries, to present concepts of greener business, sustainable production & consumption, links between workplace conditions, relations and environmental practices, relevant ILO experiences and interactive discussions between constituents on these topics.
