    One component of the project required the documentation of the processes that may be considered as evolving good practices, as well as the lessons earned, in the course of implementing the project for learning and knowledge sharing purposes. This collection of good practices and lessons learned from activities in both the Philippines and Thailand complements two case studies — - Thai migrant workers’ experiences in Europe (Poland and Sweden), a “story book” of five Thai migrants’ versions of abuse in No Dream Come True…Only More Debt, and a collection of Filipino returned migrants’ stories of triumph and hope in Going Home, Making Good.

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is the national government agency mandated to formulate and implement policies and programs, and serve as the policy advisory arm of the Executive branch in the field of labor and employment. The DOLE serves more that 38.51 million workers comprising the Philippine labor force, including the 3.62 million temporary migrants working in about 215 destinations worldwide.

  7. La Union migration and development strategic plan (2012-2016)

    Recognizing the importance of migration in the overall development of the province as well as the need to address attendant problems, the Provincial Government and other key stakeholders decided to formulate a strategic plan on migration and development, which will serve as the blueprint in mitigating the risk and adverse effects of migration, and in ensuring that migration redounds to the benefit of the province and its residents.

  8. RBAP partners with ILO & Gates Foundation to expand microinsurance to millions of low income Filipinos

    Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) research and training arm, the Rural Bankers Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (RBRDFI), will receive a US$ 100,000 grant from the International Labour Organization (ILO) under the Microinsurance Innovation Facility. This collaboration aims to support RBAP members in partnering with insurance companies to offer microinsurance.
