Job fair

First large scale job fair

With the objective of linking job seekers to job opportunities in Nepal, the first ever large scale job fair was organized from 31 March to 1 April 2017.

The first large scale job fair was held in Kathmandu from 31 March to 1 April 2017 with 22 employment agencies and a range of industries participating.  The fair used a speed dating approach to match job seekers and prospective employers.

Nepal faces a shortage of skill labour which can partially be addressed by improving information about available jobs and linking job seekers to employment opportunities.

The fair was jointly organized by the Balaju School of Engineering and Technology (BSET), Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).  It was supported by various agencies including the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) funded  ILO's Labour Market Information and Employment Service (LiFE) Project.

The Employment Service Centre (ESC) Kathmandu, participated as an employment facilitator in providing employment services to both job seekers and employers.
