Consultative cum sharing workshop: Occupational code system in Nepal

The one-day consultative workshop will gather views and practical ideas from various stakeholders to finalize the Occupational Code System in Nepal (OCSN) and have a better understanding of the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO).

The  Labour Market Information and Employment Services (LIfE) Project is funded by KOICA. It focuses on improving the quality of employment services through strengthened client orientation and capacity building of employment service centres and their officials; improving the collection and dissemination of labour market information and skill indicators and knowledge sharing under the ILO South-South cooperation framework.

The job portal and effective LMI database system are being developed to better match the requirements of employers and jobseekers. The OCSN based on ISCO is being developed to support the system, helps to organize the jobs and match with regional and international practices also.

The specific objectives of the workshop are to:

•    Share information about the ISCO
•    Discuss on OCSN being developed for better understanding and application of occupation classification
•    Collect innovative ideas for better matching jobseekers and employers needs and expectations.

The newly developed OCSN will make formative changes within the existing practices and facilitate the future direction of matching the jobseekers and employers’ needs and expectations. The internet-based database system will reach out to more jobseekers and enterprises.
