Seminar on Promoting Responsible and Sustainable Business Practices in Nepal
The Seminar will bring together representatives of governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, enterprises and experts from ILO to share information and exchange experiences on Responsible Business Practices (RBP). It will shed light on why value chain sustainability is important for commercial growth and will provide actionable insights into collaboration, business strategy and stakeholders engagement.
The specific objectives are:
i) Raise awareness of the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (the MNE Declaration) and ILO instruments and tools related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
ii) Introduce other international instruments and initiatives related to responsible and sustainable enterprise development;
iii) Discuss the role of Multinational enterprises (MNEs) in development, especially in connection to job creation. Identify current situation, challenges, policy environment;
iv) Share international experiences on the promotion and application of the principles of the MNE Declaration
v) Presentation on the ILO UNNATI Project in the four commodities-sectors; cardamom, dairy, ginger and tea and identify the roles to be played by MNEs/business as well as government in promoting decent work.
