Safety and health at work

The Ministry of Labour and Transport Management (MoLTM)/Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Centre with the cooperation of ILO promotes safe and healthy working conditions in the workplace. The Ministry with technical assistance produced a Profile on Occupational Safety Health (OSH) in Nepal.

The ILO International HIV/AIDS Workplace Education Programme, implemented from 2004 to 2007 contributed to the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the world of work, the enhancement of workplace protection and the reduction of its adverse consequences on social, labour, and economic development. A National Policy on HIV/AIDS in the Workplace was endorsed by the government in 2007. This is a strategic intervention formulated to guide tripartite constituents and all other stakeholders in the management of problems associated with HIV in workplaces.

The ILO continues to support OSH activities with tripartite constituents to improve inspection services, integrate OSH issues concerning environment, workers’ health promotion and HIV/AIDS prevention at the workplace.
