International Organisation of Employers

Document | 02 March 2010

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE), the largest network of the private sector in the world, represents the interests of employers in social and labour matters at international level. Since the early stages of the global crisis, IOE issued a Statement proposing measures meant to help businesses overcome the crisis’ effects in the short-term.

The Global Jobs Pact lays out clearly the policy approaches needed to support job creation by the private sector. “The challenge for the ILO, international organizations, governments, trade unions and employers, will be translating these ideas into practical measures which actually make a difference on the ground. The true test of the new pact will be its translation into more jobs in all countries”, stated the IOE at the adoption of the Pact.

The IOE issued the “Employers’ Guide” explaining how the Pact can be used by employers and emphasizing ILO’s primary role in the multilateral system.
