International Trade Union Confederation

Document | 24 February 2010

The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) works to ensure that the Fundamental Workers’ Rights promoted by the ILO – the right to organize in a trade union, the right to collective bargaining, protection from discrimination, and the elimination of child labour and forced labour – are universally respected and enforced.

ITUC stressed that social justice must mean, above all, distributive justice. The ILO Global Jobs Pact provides the framework for attaining such goal. ITUC endorsed the Pact immediately after its adoption and encouraged all its affiliate organizations and partners to take stock and use it jointly with government and employers in finding possible responses to the crisis.
