  5. Labour and social trends in Indonesia 2010: translating economic growth into employment creation

    The third issue of the Labour and Social Trends in Indonesia focuses on turning robust economic growth into creation of decent work and productive employment. Indonesia weathered the global financial crisis much better than advanced economies and neighbouring countries, maintaining a positive economic growth. Economic forecasts of various sources unanimously suggest faster economic growth for Indonesia at above six per cent per year in the coming years. It is obvious that opportunities lie ahead of Indonesia.

  6. Indonesian Jobs Pact 2011-2014

    Indonesia, through the tripartite components, has followed up the international commitment adopted by the International Labour Conference in June 2009 of the Global Jobs Pact (GJP) that provided framework designed to guide national and international policies and stimulate economic recovery. After a series of consultations, the Indonesian Jobs Pact was signed by the representatives of the tripartite in the national tripartite Cooperation Institution and witnessed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on 13 April 2011.

The ability of this country to weather the crisis was almost entirely due to the country’s reliance on a series of strong social protection schemes which were implemented after the 1997 Asian financial crisis and also addresses the challenges which lie ahead and the areas for improvement.

    This report presents the main results of the Timor‐Leste Labour Force Survey, for which the fieldwork was carried out over a 12‐month period from mid‐2009 to mid‐2010. The survey was conducted by the National Statistics Directorate (DNE) in collaboration with the Labour Market Information Department of the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE). Conducting the survey was made possible through the funding support provided by Irish Aid and AusAid and with technical support provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
