  2. Organizing & Collective bargaining for decent work for workers in precarious employment situations

    17 - 18 March 2017

    This two day residential training workshop is aimed at reviewing organizing and collective bargaining initiatives of the trade unions in Indonesia. It is a follow up on the work initiated in 2016 with four garments sector federations and will be expanded to cover unions from electronics, auto, chemicals and construction sector.

  3. Building Domestic Workers Skill as an Entry to Decent Work for Domestic Workers

    The skills development and professional recognition of domestic workers play an important role in promoting decent work for domestic workers. Skills training can help raise the status of domestic worker as a recognized profession. This, in turn, would improve domestic workers’ employability and prospects for better employment condition.

  2. Seminar on Achieving Double Bottom Line: Inclusive Finance and Social Performance Management

    Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) are an important source of employment and economic output in Indonesia. Almost 99.8 percent of over 57,900,000 firms in Indonesia are considered as micro and small enterprises1. MSEs provide jobs to over 93 percent of the labour force engaged in wage employment. However, in terms of value added MSEs contribute relatively less to GDP (43 percent) compared to medium and large businesses (57 percent).

  3. National Knowledge Sharing and Closing Workshop: ILO Decent Work for Food Security and Sustainable Rural Development Project in Nusa Tenggara Timur

    Decent work in the rural economy was set as one of the ILO’s eight Areas of Critical Importance (ACI) for the biennium 2014-2015. In response to the government of Indonesia’s request, a pilot project “Decent work for food security and rural development” was designed by the ILO in 2012 and discussed with the relevant stakeholders in Indonesia (Ministry of villages, disadvantaged regions and Transmigration, FAO, workers’ organizations and employers’ association).

    Indonesian just recently ratified the MLC, 2006, and shows a strong commitment to provide protection in addition to protection for the improvement of the welfare of Indonesian seafarers working on board foreign flag and/or Indonesian flagged vessels sailing in international waters also as protection for the ship industry.

    The Government of Indonesia has adopted the new National Work Competence Standard (SKKNI) 2015 for Individual Service Serving Household under the Ministrial Decree no. 313/2015. The new SKKNI has accommodated some elements from the Regional Model Competency Standard (RMCS).
