1. Green Jobs in Asia Regional Conference

   20 - 22 June 2012, Singgasana Hotel Surabaya, Surabaya, Indonesia

   On 20-22 June 2012, a tripartite regional workshop will discuss the Green Jobs in Asia project to highlight successful approaches, areas of improvement and the way forward. Representatives from GJA will include Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. They will be joined by additional countries with Green Jobs experience: China, Fiji, India and Thailand.

2. Launch of Decent Work Country Profile for Indonesia

   23 May 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

   Through the Decent Work Country Profile for Indonesia the constituents can take stock of the progress made in Indonesia since 1996, and the remaining challenges and the policies required to address them.

3. Roll-Out Training for Experienced Ecotour Guides

   14 - 16 May 2012, Senaru, Lombok , Indonesia

   The main purpose of the roll-out training for ecotour guides is to provide experienced tour-guides, as well as potential ecotour guides, the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to plan and manage ecotours in line with the national competency standards for ecotour guides defined by the Indonesian Government.

4. Roll-Out Training for Beginner Ecotour Guides

   11 - 13 May 2012, Sembalun, West Nusatenggara, Indonesia

   Under this activity, participants will be trained on the skills requirements to meet national ecotour guide competency standards, aimed at enabling participants to enhance their abilities and increase their employability within the tourism industry.

5. Training of Trainers for Judges in the Industrial Relations Court on International Labour Standards

   7 - 11 May 2012, Puncak, West Java, Indonesia

   The Supreme Court of Indonesia, the Industrial Relations Court (IRC), Judicial Training Centre and ILO are working in partnership to develop a training program for newly appointed judges to the Industrial Relations Court.

6. Training of Trainers (ToT) for Ecotour Guides

   7 - 10 May 2012, Mataram, West Nusatenggara, Indonesia

   One of the selected activities to be undertaken by the Green Jobs in Asia project is a Training of Trainer (ToT) workshop on eco tour guiding for skilled tour guides in the Lombok area. Training will be designed to be participatory and interactive, encouraging participants to advocate for sustainable tourism in the West Nusatenggara.

7. Youth Employment in Asia and the Pacific

   1 May 2012, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste and Viet Nam

   As a lead-up to the Youth Employment Forum to be held in Geneva, 23-25 May 2012, many activities were held globally to highlight youth employment issues. Thirteen countries in Asia and the Pacific are organizing various activities to raise awareness on the importance of youth employment.

8. Financial Education Training for Cooperatives Board and Members

   26 - 27 April 2012, Bromo, East Java, Indonesia

   The purpose of this training is to assist the cooperative board of Bromo and its members in understanding the importance of financial management and cost accounting principles aimed at improving community welfare and income generation vis-à-vis the promotion of environmentally sustainable livelihood activities.

9. Commemorating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work: Interactive Talkshow on OSH and SMEs in Indonesia

   25 April 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

   Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia have become a significant support to the sustainable development of the economy and important channel to adsorb surplus labour forces. However, the SMEs are still facing many challenges. One of them is how to raise productivity while improving occupational safety and health and working conditions.

10. Roll-Out Training for Beginner Ecotour Guides

    25 - 27 April 2012, East Java, Indonesia

    The main purpose of the roll-out training for ecotour guides therefore is to give experienced tour-guides and potential eco-tour guides the necessary skills to conduct their specific activity following the ecotour guide national competency standards as stipulated by the Indonesian Government.

11. The Launch of Labour and Social Trends in Indonesia 2011: Promoting Job-rich Growth in Provinces

    22 March 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The report analyses labour market trends at the provincial level. Given the considerable diversity in socio-economic conditions among provinces and decentralized policymaking, realizing inclusive and job-rich growth requires suitable policy interventions at the local levels.

12. Awareness-Raising Activity on the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers: Series of Thematic Discussions on Migrant Workers Issue

    13 - 27 March 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    For this particular program, ILO Combating Forced Labour and Trafficking of Indonesian Migrant Workers and SMART FM opt 3 (three) topics for series of discussions on the issue of labour migration. The topics are Policy development, Economic Empowerment of Indonesian Migrant Workers and the Rights of Health: HIV/AIDS related issues on Labour Migration.

13. Commemorating the 2012 International Women’s Day: The Launch of Employers’ Guideline on Sexual Harassment at the Workplace

    8 March 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) as the main voice of employers on labour and social issues in Indonesia takes seriously the issue of the sexual harassment at the workplace.

14. Provincial Awareness Raising Events: Media Briefings and Broadcast Events on Decent Work for Domestic Workers

    7 - 26 March 2012, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, Bandung and Kupang, Indonesia

    To address these issues, it is crucial for the media to focus and influence attitudes on domestic workers’ conditions among decision-makers, employers and the public in general.

15. Roll-Out training for experienced ecotour guides

    23 - 26 February 2012, Lake Toba, North Sumatra, Indonesia

    One of the activities that would be undertaken by the Green Jobs in Asia project for the local stakeholders at the Lake Toba area is eco tour guide training in forms of Training of Trainers (ToTs) for the skilled tour guides and followed by a rollout training for beginners and experienced tour guides.

    The training is designed in a way to encourage the participants to be active and propose ideas on how to think, act, train, and advocate to other people on the principles of community-environment-tourism to support the achievement of sustainable tourism in Lake Toba area.

18. The Launch of a New Publication: “Trade and Employment: From Myths to Facts”

    7 February 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    In the era of globalization most economists and policy-makers have asserted, that trade liberalization has a strong potential to contribute to growth and that those effects will be beneficial for employment. However, survey evidence illustrates that negative perceptions of the labour market effects of trade are frequent and persistent among the population, in particular in the industrialized world but increasingly also in developing countries.

19. Destination Management Organization Stakeholders Meeting for Bromo in East Java

    19 January 2012, Bromo, East Java, Indonesia

    The meeting is aimed to share information on the progress of ILO’s Green Jobs in Asia project activities in Indonesia and assess challenges associated with promoting tourism in Bromo. The meeting is also aimed to highlight areas where ILO green jobs in Asia project can assist the development of Bromo’s DMO in 2012.

20. Project Advisory Committee of Green Jobs in Asia

    The meeting is aimed to promote the capacity of ILO constituents to engage in dialogue on green jobs through increased access to reliable sources of data and information on green jobs and training, including on the employment impacts of environment-related policies and good practices on green jobs.
