Collective Bargaining, Wage Policy and Productivity in Indonesia: Roles and Responsibilities

During June-July 2012, the ILO conducted a diagnostic process on freedom of association and collective bargaining rights in the export processing sector in Indonesia. On this basis, a national plan of action 2013 – 2015 on freedom of association and collective bargaining rights in the export sector in Indonesia has been developed by the tripartite constituents.

Background

During June-July 2012, the ILO conducted a diagnostic process on freedom of association and collective bargaining rights in the export processing sector in Indonesia. On this basis, a national plan of action 2013 – 2015 on freedom of association and collective bargaining rights in the export sector in Indonesia has been developed by the tripartite constituents.

As set out in the plan of action, the tripartite constituents agreed to certain priorities. At the level of the tripartite constituents, these include:

Workshops for Government and social partners on roles and responsibilities for freedom of association and collective bargaining

  • Three one-day workshops for the separate groups on roles and responsibilities associated with freedom of association and collective bargaining under national law.
  • Objective: the constituents have a common understanding of fundamental labour rights guaranteed under national law and international labour standards, with a particular focus on their relative roles and responsibilities in relation to freedom of association and collective bargaining and wage policy.

National tripartite forum on collective bargaining and wage policy

  • A comprehensive one-day tripartite forum on the national law in relation to collective bargaining including, in particular, roles and responsibilities in practice.
  • Objective: a common agreement on key issues in relation to collective bargaining and wage policy, and identification of next steps in working together on collective bargaining, wage policy and productivity.
