Accelerating action towards the elimination of Worst Form of Child Labour in ASEAN, 16th- 18th December 2013, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The ASEAN Secretariat in cooperation with the ILO will host a tripartite workshop on 16-18 December in Jakarta to discuss actions to accelerate the elimination of the worst forms of child labour in ASEAN. The workshop is pursuant to the adoption of the ASEAN Roadmap on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour last November at the 5th SLOM Working Group on Progressive Labour Practices, and a direct follow up to the recent 3rd Global Conference on Child Labour held in Brasilia in October. Focussing on the five policy areas which are articulated as priorities in the ASEAN Roadmap – education, social protection, labour market policy, knowledge and data, national legislation and enforcement – the workshop will be an opportunity to (1) share and reflect on country-level initiatives, progress and challenges and, (2) to discuss strategies, actions and priorities for accelerating efforts. Special attention will be given to how inter-sectoral linkages and coordination can be better developed between relevant ASEAN Regional bodies and ministerial areas.
