ILO Courtesy Visit to the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs

The ILO country Office for Indonesia led by the Country Director, Michiko Miyamoto, had a courtesy visit to Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

The ILO country Office for Indonesia led by the Country Director, Michiko Miyamoto, had a courtesy visit to Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs has the task of coordinating, synchronizing and controlling the affairs of the various Government Ministries in administering the field of maritime and resources.

In the meeting, the Coordinating Minister explained about different ongoing programmes implemented by the Coordinating Ministry, which that include combating marine debris and the Citarum river clean-up programme in West Java. He welcomed any opportunity of collaboration with the ILO in Indonesia.

Meanwhile the ILO Country Director informed the Coordinating Minister about the ILO’s various programmes in Indonesia, including areas of work in line with the ILO’s 100th anniversary in 2019. Indicating possible linkages to the programmes of the Coordinating Ministry, the ILO Country Director resonated the interest to collaborate, and both parties agree to actively explore partnership for development projects in the near future.
