  3. World Day against Child Labour: Warning! Children in hazardous work! End child labour!

    In a new report issued for World Day Against Child Labour, the International Labour Organization (ILO) warns that a staggeringly high number of children are still caught in hazardous work – some 115 million of the world’s 215 million child labourers – and calls for urgent action to halt the practice. The report, “Children in hazardous work: what we know, what we need to do,” cites studies from both industrialized and developing countries indicating that every minute of every day, a child labourer somewhere in the world suffers a work-related accident, illness or psychological trauma.

  4. Report of workshop on sharing lessons learnt on the SCREAM implementation at school level

    The sharing knowledge workshops were conducted in three provinces; West Java, Central Java, and East Java. In each province, a one and a half day workshop consisting of plenary and small group discussions was facilitated by at least one facilitator for each workshop. Each of the participating schools was required to prepare presentation and present the SCREAM activities in their school, including challenges encountered in implementing the SCREAM at school level and lessons learnt for the future implementation of SCREAM at school level.

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and BP have signed a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement to promote employability and entrepreneurship among Papuan youth in Bintuni Bay Area, West Papua, an emerging oil and gas cluster in Indonesia. The agreement was signed in Jakarta on 30 May by Mr Nico Kanter, Head of Country, BP Indonesia and Mr Peter van Rooij, Country Director of the ILO in Indonesia.

    Indonesia has been selected as a pilot county for the Joint ILO/UNWTO Project. The objective of this Joint Project is to carry out an in-depth study on possible ways of applying the latest international recommendations in the field of tourism statistics to produce new sets of data on employment in the tourism industries beyond the TSA. Another objective of the study is to present the scope of Indonesia’s Decent Work Indicators and to suggest which of these could be used to measure progress on decent work in the tourism industries.
