The ILO Country Office for Pakistan publishes a wide range of books, reports and working papers relevant to Pakistan. Some of these can be downloaded directly. Others can be requested in hard copy from the ILO Library in Islamabad.

  2. Baseline study to assess gender disparities in construction sector jobs

    This study assesses and identifies gender disparities and challenges for women that impede their entrance and participation in the construction sector due to social, cultural, and religious barriers. The study aimed to contribute to drawing up strategic policy guidelines and suggestions to be incorporated through the ILO to contribute to creating conducive working environments for women in the sector.

  3. Decent transport for working women

    This report provides insight into the rationale behind the pilot test of the project, Decent Public Transport for Working Women, and a detailed overview of the project design, development, activities and its effects. The project was intended to pilot test the concept of women-friendly public transportation facilities. The purpose of introducing women-friendly public transportation was to provide safe and decent environment to working women while they step out of their homes into the public sphere, for work and social life.

    This study looks at the barriers and disparities in accessing and availing the employment programs by the youth, especially female youth and to draft policy recommendations to remove the barriers and enhance the labour force participation of the young females in Pakistan.

  7. Searching for the invisibles workers: A statistical study of home based workers in Pakistan

    This study quantifies the trends in the population of HBWs in Pakistan, by urban/rural, province and gender, and also analyzes the last 10 year socio-economic-demographic profile of HBWs, generated from the past Labour Force Surveys. In addition, it includes findings of a sample survey of HBW households in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi to document the various deficits faced by the HBWs.

  8. Situation analysis of the residential facilities for Pakistani working women at/near their workplaces

    This study presents an in-depth and systematic assessment of the need for adequate and safe residential facilities for working women, especially those who work away from their homes, so as to improve the working conditions for Pakistani women and enhance their labor force participation.

  11. Report on experience sharing and advocacy workshop: integrated support programme to home based workers

    Under One-UN Project “Towards Gender Parity in Pakistan (TGP)”, ILO and UN-Women have jointly initiated five pilot projects to provide “integrated support to Home-Based Workers” in different sectors and geographic locations. The “Experience Sharing and Advocacy Workshop” was held to highlight good practices and learning from the lessons in one of the pilots in Sialkot (Punjab).
