  1. Decent work priorities in Pakistan – Five-year plan (2023-27)

    The Government of Pakistan, Provincial Departments of Labour, Employers' and Workers' Organizations and other important stakeholders agreed on Promoting decent work at the core of Crises, Promoting social protection coverage for all, Strengthening application of International Labour Standards through Social Dialogue and promoting workplaces which are safe, healthy, family-friendly and free of violence and harassment as priorities for next five years.

  2. Launch of badge for prevention and elimination of child domestic labour

    ILO Office, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and Pakistan Girls Guide Association launched the Badge to prevent and eliminate child domestic labour in Pakistan

  3. ILO organizes “Dissemination Workshop on Gap Assessment Study on C-189” (Domestic Workers)

    18 August 2022

    ILO concluded a dissemination workshop in Islamabad on the “Gap Assessment Study on Convention 189” (Domestic Workers) to educate stakeholders on the identified legal gaps, share recommendations, and chalk out an advocacy plan of actions for stakeholders in pursuing Federal government to ratify the ILO Domestic Workers Convention, 2011 (No.189).

  7. Pakistani Trade Unions join forces for solidarity and cooperation

    A 2-Day Experience Sharing Workshop: Strengthening Trade Union Strategy and Identifying New Priorities for Trade Unions’ Cooperation held on 15-16 June 2022 at ILO Office for Pakistan, Islamabad. H.E. Mr. Andreas Ferrarese, Ambassador to Pakistan Embassy of Italy was chief guest of the closing ceremony.

  1. Measures discussed to reduce exploitation of Overseas Pakistanis in recruitment process

    An awareness raising and policy dialogue on promoting fair recruitment practices to reduce possible exploitation of migrant workers from Pakistan was arranged in Peshawar.

  2. Government initiates HealthWISE programme to improve working conditions of healthcare workers

    The first ‘HealthWISE Introductory Workshop’ was held in Islamabad today. The workshop was organized by the Directorate of Workers’ Education (DWE) – a subsidiary of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) – with the technical support of the ILO and the WHO.

  5. Factory Improvement Toolset (FIT) pilot programme in Pakistan’s textile and ready made garments sector

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) under its European Union funded International Labour and Environmental Standards Application in Pakistan’s SMEs (ILES) project, began pilot of its Factory Improvement Toolset (FIT) in eleven enterprises in Karachi. The pilot programme is offered to the enterprises that have already graduated from ILO’s SCORE Short course programme. All participating enterprises belong to the textile and ready-made garments sector.

  6. Tripartite Consultation - Gap Analysis on the Forced Labour Protocol (2014)
