  1. Employers reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate child labour

    The Employers Federation of Pakistan collaborated with Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and industry to conduct seminars on the “World Day against Child Labour” with the support of ILO under the Japan Government funded Project on “More and Better Jobs through Socially Responsible Labour Practices in Pakistan.

  2. Reporting on forced labour and fair recruitment in Pakistan

    21 September 2020

    In collaboration with Centre for Excellence for Journalism (CEJ), the ILO through European Union funded project, Global Action to Improve the Recruitment Framework of Labour Migration (REFRAME) hosted advocacy sessions with 24 media influential including Editors, Bureau Chief and senior reporters and training for 47 journalists from media organizations across the country.

  3. Promotion of decent work opportunities in brick kiln sector of Pakistan

    17 September 2020

    Mr Julien Harneis, United Nations Resident Coordinator, Pakistan, visited the first brick kiln adopted zigzag technology in Pakistan. This technology is environment friendly, reduce emissions from brick kilns and cut pollution. While applauding Punjab government’s offer of interest-free loans, he appreciated the initiative taken by brick kiln owners.

  4. New ILO-ADB report addresses the impact of COVID-19 on youth employment in Asia and the Pacific

    The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a massive disruption of economies and labour markets with disproportionate impacts on youth employment in Asia and the Pacific, says a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

  5. Online workshop: Health assistance in an employment injury institution

    23 July 2020

    ILO launched a series of online workshops to disseminate its international experience and facilitate knowledge sharing on good governance of an Employment Injury Institution. The workshop is expected to enhance capacity of staff members of social security institution of Sindh, health professionals of Employees’ Social Security Institutions of Pakistan as well as the ILO tripartite constituents.

  6. Leaders from Asia-Pacific address ILO Virtual Global Summit on COVID-19 and the World of Work

    Government, Employers’ and Workers’ leaders from Asia Pacific are to address the largest ever online gathering of workers, employers and governments to discuss how to build back better in the post-pandemic recovery.

  7. Launch of first SCORE Alumni Network

    12 March 2020

    ILO Pakistan launches its first SCORE Alumni Network event in Karachi through its European Union Funded ILES Project, recognises the completion of the SCORE short course by eight enterprises and certifies six national trainers in its SCORE project.

  1. Second batch of awareness raising seminars conducted on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work for cotton growing communities in district Sanghar

    Under the ILO-INDITEX PPP, a second batch of two community level awareness raising seminars seminars were conducted in district Sanghar benefiting 183 participants (cotton growing communities and local key stakeholders) to strengthen their understanding on the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the cotton supply chain.

  2. Cotton picking women and adolescent girls of Southern Punjab sensitized on child labour, forced labour and OSH

    ILO organised series of five farm level awareness raising seminars cum workshops on child labour, forced labour and OSH for the cotton picking women and adolescent girls workers of Southern Punjab under its project “Elimination of Child Labour and Forced Labour in the Cotton, Textile and Garment Value Chains: an Integrated Approach” Co-funded by the European Union.

  3. Capacity building session for the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on the framework of fundamental principles and rights at work

    ILO Country Office for Pakistan, through its European Union (EU) funded project ‘Sustaining Strengthened National Capacities to Improve International Labour Standards (ILS) Compliance and Reporting in Relevant EU Trading Partners’ engages the field formations of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on the Framework of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, their measurement and the related issues.

  4. Capacity building on the normative framework and practice of the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining

    ILO Country Office for Pakistan, through its European Union (EU) funded project ‘Sustaining Strengthened National Capacities to Improve International Labour Standards (ILS) Compliance and Reporting in Relevant EU Trading Partners’ facilitates the partners from Baluchistan to discuss the normative framework and global best practices of freedom of association and collective bargaining compared with the ground realities in the province.

  5. ILO supported a consultation convened by workers organizations to highlight the precarious employment and working conditions in the construction sector

    The ILO Pakistan through its EU funded project ‘Sustaining strengthened national capacities to improve ILS compliance and reporting in relevant EU trading partners’ supported the workers organizations to high light the precarious employment and working conditions in the construction sector.

  7. ILO launches Occupational Safety and Health trainings for Small and Medium Enterprises in Pakistan

    ILO using Work Improvements in Small Enterprises (WISE) methodology, arranged customized trainings on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) for workers and managers of textile and marble enterprises in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

  8. National stakeholders’ workshop on achieving SDGs and ending poverty through Social Protection

    15 May 2019

    A national stakeholders’ workshop was organised by the ILO as part of the project ‘Achieving SDGs and Ending Poverty through Social Protection’, funded by the UN Peace and Development Trust Funds pledged by the Government of China. The project is being jointly implemented by the ILO and UNDESA in Cambodia and Pakistan.

  12. ILO pilots Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) training programme in Pakistan

    01 April 2019

    The International Labour and Environmental Standards Application in Pakistan’s SMEs (ILES), a project of ILO, funded by the European Union, piloted SCORE training programme in Pakistan. Ten large textile enterprises and 13 consultants were trained in workplace cooperation, quality management, clean production, human resource management and occupational safety and health.
