Between December 2011 and May 2012, the ILO has consulted young people from around the globe to gather their inputs to an International Youth Forum in Geneva, ahead of the 101st International Labour Conference for which a key focus is youth employment. As part of this global process, 13 national youth employment consultation events took place in Asia and the Pacific. This report summarises the key messages brought by young people and policy makers.

Islamabad: Four Provincial Labour Departments have agreed to draft a law to eliminate child labour from Pakistan. The new provincial law prohibiting child labour will replace the existing Employment of Children Act (ECA) 1991.

In response to floods in Sindh, ILO has launched “Cash for Work” Project for the flood-affected people in Districts of Badin and Mirpurkhas. Mr. Francesco d’Ovidio, Country Director, ILO office for Pakistan while launching the “Cash for Work for Flood Affected People” project stated, “This project will generate more than 35,000 of person day of employment to the flood affected people”.
