This 60 minute webinar is convened by the ILO and the UN Global Compact Office in the lead up to the annual World Day against Child Labour (June 12). Experts from the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) will provide information on the notion of “hazardous work” (an estimated 115 million children around the world are currently engaged in hazardous work) as well as practical guidance on how business can contribute to eliminate this worst form of child labour.

A range of issues will be discussed including how to avoid use of child labour in supply chains, how businesses can help to tackle child labour in the community and how businesses can ensure that appropriate safety and health standards are applied to youth of legal working age. It will also introduce the practical tool “Eliminating Child Labour. Guides for Employers”.

The webinar is taking place on Tuesday 24 May 2011 – 9:30 AM (New York time) 3:30 PM (Geneva time). Registration is required to participate in the webinar. To register, please send a message to webinar@unglobalcompact.org.
