This paper argues that economic globalization has become a key feature of the life of economic and social actors around the world, but that this is not tantamount to political inertia and requires on the contrary a rethinking of development policies and new forms of action.

This paper reviews past structural adjustment policies aimed at economic liberalization and suggests these must be reformed for the sake of better global integration and reducing poverty. It recommends reforms be made to structural adjustment policies to ensure a better economic globalization. The suggestions concern human development and how theses policies should be characterized. Overall the aim of each stabilization and structural adjustment programme is to improve the human condition to truly achieve beneficial human development.
