PhD in Economics (IDS, Sussex), previously working at the World Bank in Hanoi, Viet Nam, and later at Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs in Bern.

Selected Past Projects

  • Computation of ILO first Global estimate of forced labour in the world, published in ILO report “A Global Alliance against Forced Labour” (ILO, 2005).
  • Research projects on the determinants of sex trafficking; on the profits made with forced labour exploitation; on the methodologies for global and national estimation of human trafficking; and on the extent of discrimination against indigenous peoples in Peru and Bolivia;
  • Technical cooperation projects to support fundamental principles and rights at work, and in particular the eradication of forced labour and discrimination, in Latin America (with special focus on Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay) and West Africa (especially Niger).
