Security arrangements

As the International Labour Conference takes place in the United Nations Geneva headquarters building, the Palais des Nations, as well as in the ILO headquarters building, participants at the Conference must respect the security requirements in force for entry to the ILO, and those for entry to the United Nations. The two Conference sites are ten minutes’ walk from each other, and are also linked by a shuttle bus service.

Participants must wear visibly their badges at all times and carry national identity documents, with a photograph, the name of the person in Latin script, and issued by countries or other entities recognized by the United Nations. The badge and the identity document will be systematically checked by ILO and United Nations security guards.

Reminder of safety instructions

In order to improve your personal safety during your stay in Geneva or neighbouring France, we advise you not to wear your badge visibly when you are outside the official locations of the Conference. This is a preventive measure that should contribute to avoiding malicious people from approaching you.

At the same time, if you are subject to a Police check, you are advised to:
- Have the Officer's Police Plate presented.
- Check the Agent's Police card. It includes the word "Police" but also the photograph of its holder, his/her name, first name, function, as well as the sign of the "Republic and Canton of Geneva". The whole is barred with a yellow and red line.
- Do not show your belongings. In case of doubt call 117.
- Report the facts to ILO security at the following number: +41 22 799 8015
