Fragile States: How does work help people transition from fragility to security, peace and resilience?

Nearly 1.5 billion people live in countries where they face violence or “fragile” situations on a daily basis. Another 200 million people cope with the slow or sudden onset of disasters. Violence and catastrophic events undermine peoples’ livelihoods and create decent work deficits which, when ignored, lead to increased poverty, inequality and social unrest. Discussion with on how work can help people transition from fragility to security, peace and resilience. Discussion with:

  • Azita Berar-Awad: Director of the Employment Policy Department at the ILO
  • Aeneas Chuma: ILO Regional Director for Africa
