Recurrent discussion on the strategic objective of fundamental principles and rights at work

The 101st session of the International Labour Conference of the ILO, is to be held in Geneva (Switzerland) from 30 May to 15 June 2012. The recurrent discussion on the strategic objective of fundamental principles and rights at work (FPRW) will cover all four categories of FPRW:
  • Freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining
  • The elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour
  • The effective abolition of child labour
  • The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation
The objective of the discussion is to understand better member States’ diverse realities and needs with respect to FPRW, as well as ILO action to address these needs, in order to respond more effectively to them through a coordinated use of all the ILO means of action. One of the main goals of the Conference discussion would be the adoption of a plan of action – which would take the form of conclusions adopted by the Conference – determining the priorities for the FPRW for the period 2012–16.
