The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam operates a wide range of programmes and projects. Details of each programme and project can be found below.

2016

  1. Tripartite Action for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers in the ASEAN Region (ASEAN TRIANGLE project)

    The Project aims to significantly reduce the exploitation of labour migrants in the region through increased legal and safe migration and improved labour protection.

  2. Tripartite Action for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers in the ASEAN Region (ASEAN TRIANGLE project-Philippines)

    1 May 2012 - 13 December 2016

    The Project aims to significantly reduce the exploitation of labour migrants in the region through increased legal and safe migration and improved labour protection. The project promotes both bilateral and regional approaches to deal with shared concerns, make regionalism more effective, and enhance the capacity of institutions in ASEAN. The project objectives are in line with the strategic priorities of the ASEAN Labour Ministers Work Programme (2010-2015).

  3. Support to development in industrial relations, wage fixing, and labour law implementation institutions and capacity in Viet Nam

    27 September 2012 - 27 September 2016

    The project aims to put into practice the new Labour Code and Trade Union to ensure that, by 2016, Viet Nam’s minimum wage system is reformed and industrial relations institutions and mechanisms for collective bargaining and social dialogue have been perfected and capacity of all stakeholders are strengthened to bring the regulations and practices into closer compliance with international labour standards.

  1. Increasing Workplace Compliance through Labour Inspection

  2. Applying the G20 Training Strategy

    1 December 2012 - 30 November 2015

    The project is a response to interest indicated by the Russian Federation to work with the ILO in supporting the application of the G20 Training Strategy to the skills development and employment needs in a range of countries.

  3. Improving working conditions of entertainment workers as a means to strengthen HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in Viet Nam

    1 March 2014 - 31 July 2015

    The project aims to support the ILO’s tripartite constituents – the Government, and employers and workers’ organizations in improving the working conditions of entertainment workers as a means to strengthen HIV prevention, testing, treatment and care services.

  4. Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants from Labour Exploitation (GMS TRIANGLE)

    1 July 2010 - 29 May 2015

    Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants within and from the Greater Mekong Sub-region from Labour Exploitation (the TRIANGLE project) aims to significantly reduce the exploitation of labour migrants through increased legal and safe migration and improved labour protection.

  1. Better Work Viet Nam

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2014

    This project offers sustainable solutions to the challenges of improving labour standards in global supply chains. It brings together government, employers, workers and international buyers to improve labour standards and competitiveness in Viet Nam's apparel industry.

  2. Occupational Safety and Health in Hazardous Work in Viet Nam

    1 January 2012 - 31 December 2014

    This project aims to address occupational safety and health (OSH) in hazardous industries in Viet Nam, strengthen national OSH systems in line with the on-going national OSH programmes, and improve OSH standards at workplace level.

  3. ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations Project

    28 October 2008 - 31 December 2014

    Implemented jointly by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ILO, this project aims to improve industrial relations in the ASEAN countries.

  4. Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers

    1 February 2011 - 31 July 2014

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), with funding support from the European Union (EU), is to implement a programme called Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers.

2013

  1. Strengthening of Inland Tourism in Quang Nam

    1 March 2011 - 31 December 2013

    The project will develop a replicable and sustainable approach that contributes to gender sensitive pro-poor and pro-jobs tourism development in Vietnam. The emphasis will be on young men and women, but not excluding other groups. The approach will be developed and tested in Quang Nam Province.

  2. Project of Support to the National Time-Bound Programme on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL)

    1 January 2009 - 7 December 2013

    This project contributes to the prevention and progressive elimination of child labour in Viet Nam through supporting the national time bound programme on elimination of the worst forms of child labour.

  1. Joint Programme on Gender Equality

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2012

    This project is funded by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund and works to improve the capacity of relevant national and provincial authorities and institutions in the area of gender equality.

2011

  1. Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality (WEDGE)

    1 January 2008 - 31 December 2011

    Contributes to the creation of greater opportunities for low-income women and their families to secure decent employment and income through women’s enterprise development.

  2. Youth Employment through Local Economic Development in Quang Nam Province

    1 January 2010 - 31 December 2011

    The objective of this project is to improve the employability and employment opportunities for young women and men by upgrading skills and improving job opportunities in through enhanced business enabling environment, business development services and overall market access in Quang Nam.

  3. Promoting the Employability and Employment of People with Disabilities through Effective Legislation (PEPDEL); and Promoting Decent Work for People with Disabilities through a Disability Inclusion Support Service (INCLUDE)

    1 January 2008 - 31 December 2011

    Works to create greater opportunities for women and men, including people with disabilities, to secure decent work and income.

  4. Joint Programme on Green Production and Trade to Increase Income and Employment Opportunities for the Rural Poor

    1 January 2010 - 31 December 2011

    The objective of this project is to develop better integrated, pro-poor, and environmentally sustainable ‘green’ value chains, enabling poor growers, collectors and producers to improve their products and link to more profitable markets. The targeted sector is handicrafts and small scale furniture, focusing on 4 value chains: bamboo and rattan, sericulture; sea grass; lacquer ware; and handmade paper.

  5. Support to Industrial Relations and Labour Code Reform in Vietnam

    1 January 2010 - 31 December 2011

    The ILO works in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam Cooperation Alliance (VCA), and National Assembly, to support industrial relations and labour code reform in Viet Nam.

  6. Microfinance Support Programme Viet Nam

    1 January 2010 - 31 December 2011

    This project is funded by Cordaid and promotes low income household's access to microfinance services, including savings facilities and microinsurance.
