The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. Labour Code training for journalists

    18 - 19 July 2013

    A training workshop on the important changes in the new Labour Code will be organized for Vietnamese journalists based in the three biggest cities of Hanoi, HCM City and Da Nang on 18-19 July in Da Nang City.

  2. The first meeting of key stakeholders of the UN Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

    11 July 2013

    UNDP, ILO and UNICEF have been funded by the UN Partnership to Promote the Rights if Person with Disabilities for a 2-year project starting in 2013. The strategic focus of the project is to strengthen the capacities and roles of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the advocacy, development, implementation and monitoring of legal frameworks and policies, to help ensure that the current momentum around ratification of CRPD actually results in the empowerment of people with disabilities and enables them to claim their rights.

  3. ILO-IPEC Child labour project stakeholders workshop

    11 - 12 July 2013

    ILO-IPEC Child labour project is organizing the stakeholders workshop as the Project is coming to an end to reflect back on the work undertaken, lessons learnt and re-emphasize the sustainability issues.

  4. Better Work shared learning seminar: new labour law update 2013

    1 - 5 July 2013

    The new Vietnam Labour Law, which includes many changes, has been officially in effect from 1st May 2013. To support factories in capturing these changes quickly in order to adjust their policies and internal regulations accordingly, Better Work Vietnam organizes shared learning seminars dedicated to the topic "New Labour Law Update 2013". The seminar will highlight the changes to the labour law related to the garment industry, initial implementation instruction, and best practice examples of factories that have begun applying the new law.

  1. Quang Nam villages to offer community-based tourism services

    Two villages in Quang Nam Province - Bho Hoong and Droong will launch their community-based tourism services on 23 June on the occasion of the provincial Heritage Festival 2013. Tourism activities will help villagers have new sources of income and reduce poverty.

  2. Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013

    21 - 26 June 2013

    On the occasion of the Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013, a tourism trade fair will be held in An Hoi sculpture garden in the ancient town of Hoi An

  3. World Day against Child Labour 2013 Meeting

    11 June 2013

    The meeting will be organized in Hanoi to mark the World Day against Child Labour (12 June), themed "No to Child Labour in Domestic Work" this year. A play will be shown afterwards at the event.

  4. IR project strategic planning meeting

    3 - 4 June 2013

    The IR project is organizing the strategic planning meeting on 3-4 June 2013 to have in-dept discussions on some key issues and challenges in the industrial relations development as well as to identify key tasks to be addressed in the Project under the context of new Labour Code and Trade Union Law. It is also an occasion for planning for Project activities in the second half of 2013.

    An industrial relations conference will be organised in Hanoi on 31 May 2013 in conjunction with the launching of the second phase IR Project

  2. Rural Youth Employment Forum

    28 May 2013

    The Youth Employment Forum in Bac Kan provides an opportunity for young people to express their aspiration, thoughts and needs related to education and employment in the countryside in Viet Nam and share their views and suggestions with policy makers and other stakeholders.

  3. Review workshop on the implementation of the Codes of Conduct (CoC) for Vietnamese recruitment agencies sending workers abroad

    21 May 2013

    The workshop aims to review the first year implementation of the monitoring and evaluation mechanism and tools of the Codes of conduct for recruitment agencies sending workers abroad in Viet Nam. Stakeholders involved in the implementation process will have a chance to discuss the key achievements, lessons learnt and the way forwards to improve the quality of the implementation.

  4. Workshop on Migrant Workers-related Circulars

    10 May 2013

    The workshop aims to get comments on the Circular on standard labour supply contracts and standard guest worker contracts; and the Circular on the ceiling of the deposit funds for recruitment agencies and migrant workers.

  5. Technical meeting on minimum living standards

    9 May 2013

    The technical meeting discusses the minimum living standards in Viet Nam.

  7. Better Work Safety Fun Run

    5 May 2013

    More than 3,600 garment workers will participate in Better Work Viet Nam’s annual Safety Fun Run at Lucky Square, New City of Binh Duong on Sunday morning 5 May. The event aims to raise awareness on work safety and fire prevention.

  1. National conference on "Meeting today's and tomorrow's skills needs"

    There is a gap between training and the needs of business and changing labour markets to support productivity growth, improved competitiveness and job creation. The workshop creates a forum for stake holders to discuss this issue when skills development has become a top priority in the national development agenda.

  2. Workshop on "Addressing sexual harassment at the workplace"

    15 - 24 April 2013

    ILO has provided technical and financial support to develop a Guide on preventing and addressing of sexual harassment at the workplace. The workshop includes training on main concepts, definitions, laws, policies and workplace action and policies against sexual harassment and action planning.

  1. Workshop on Strengthening National Occupational Safety and Health System in Hazardous work

    14 - 15 March 2013

    The workshop aims to promote sharing experiences among specialists and experts in ASEAN countries on the use of hazardous chemicals including asbestos, as well as to learn from the current situation in ASEAN countries on the OSH legal framework. The event is organized by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and ASEAN-OSHNET with the technical assistance from the ISSA Mining and the ILO.

  1. "Briefing on the Revision of Vietnamese Labor Law"- Workshop - Co-host with KOCHAM

    Better Work Vietnam is pleased to co-host the KOCHAM’s event “Briefing on the Revision of Vietnamese Labor Law” to explain the newly passed Vietnam labor law which will be effective from 1 May 2013. During the workshop, an overview of Better Work Vietnam program which has been actively supporting employers, employees, international buyers, and other stakeholders to ensure self-sustainable improvements of factories will be also provided.
