In order to more and more valuable inputs for the process of renovating organizational structure and activities of Vietnam Trade unions, Institute of Workers and Trade unions – think-tank department of Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), in the cooperation with ILO, will hold a workshop with the main topic on renovating core tasks of grass-root trade unions and immediate upper level union. The inputs from this workshop will contribute directly and timely to the substance of VGCL’s Master Plan on Renovation, which is now in the progress of seeking approval from Party and of VGCL’s Statute revision in the next National Congress. With participation of trade unionists from all levels of trade union system, it’s expected to reflect the current context of grassroots trade union and brainstorm about the solutions for the future roles that assigned to trade unions at all level.

The objectives of this workshop aim to:

• The engagement between grassroots trade unions, immediate trade union and national trade unions will be enhanced;
• Comments and feedbacks on trade union activities at grassroots trade unions and immediate upper level trade unions (in particular organizing and collective bargaining and other functions) will be reflected;
• Inputs from the workshop will contribute timely to the process of revising VGCL’s Statute.
