Quang Nam villages to offer community-based tourism services

Two villages in Quang Nam Province - Bho Hoong and Droong will launch their community-based tourism services on 23 June on the occasion of the provincial Heritage Festival 2013. Tourism activities will help villagers have new sources of income and reduce poverty.

On 23 June 2013, in Bho Hoong I village, Song Kon commune and Dhroong village, Ta Lu commune, Dong Giang district, Quang Nam province, there will take place an opening ceremony of community-based tourism products in Dong Giang District in 2013. This is one of the activities within the project "Strengthening of Inland Tourism in Quang nam" (SIT) implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Quang Nam PPC with the funds from Luxembourg Government.

Participants of the opening ceremony include 70 guests from agencies and departments of the provinces, districts, communes, villages, linking tourism companies, press agencies, and mass media.

The lauch of CBTs in Bhơ Hôồng I và Đhrôồng I village will honor the cultural values of Quang Nam in general and cultural characteristics, typical tradition of Catu ethnic minority in Dong Giang in particular to national and internarional friends in order to promote tourism and attract investment in Dong Giang and mountainous areas along the Ho Chi Minh Trails which is through the territory of Quang Nam province. Especially, this contributes to raising tourism awareness of local people, improving the livehood of Catu people in two remote communes of Dong Giang district, Quang Nam province.
