HANOI (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched the revised Career Guidance Package for Vietnamese students aged 14-19.

The package was first developed in 2014 under a close collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Training and the ILO. It has been updated to include the most recent information on common occupations in Viet Nam.

The revised package aims to provide guidance to young people who have to make difficult choices for their education and training and their future. Between 14 and 19 years of age, students begin to consider whether they should follow vocational education and training or academic education, select a suitable school, and eventually, a job. Throughout this period, students are asked to figure out not only their interests, strengths, and potential, but also the requirements of the career options they will have to consider.

The Career Guidance Package includes four books: the Instruction Book for Teachers, the Student Book, Career Research Book (full version) and the Quick Career Research Handbook (compendium version).

The revision of the package was carried out within the framework of the Russia-funded project on Applying the G20 Training Strategy in Viet Nam – Phase 2.
