ILO launches media competition and Youth4OSH project in the Philippines

To build a safety and health culture among young Filipino workers, the ILO launches the Youth4OSH Project and invites young people to join the SafeYouth@Work Media Competition. Winning entries for photo, film, song, story, poster/drawing and the unique Surprise Us category will get the chance to travel to Singapore in September 2017 and to present their winning piece due on 30 June 2017.

Labour Market Transitions of Young Women and Men: Innovative research from 30 school-to-work transition survey datasets
An international forum for sharing results of the second ILO’s Call for Papers on labour market transition of young women and men in developing countries. The Symposium, organized in partnership with the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), offers an opportunity for researchers and development practitioners to discuss innovative research on themes of youth employment and labour market transitions and applicability to policy and programme advice and implementation.

ILO signs agreement with g7+ group of fragile States

On 20 March 2014, during a High-Level Meeting on Decent Work in Fragile States, the ILO and the g7+ group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a partnership for cooperation in job creation, skills development, social protection, SSTC, migration, and labour market monitoring.

Inspired by the success of recent global South-South Development Expos, and regional knowledge sharing events, the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, through its Regional Centre in Cairo and in close cooperation with the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, is holding the first Arab States Regional South-South Development Expo. The ILO is contributing with a Solution Exchange Forum on Youth Employment.

Russia’s Perm Territory becomes ILO’s partner

Russia’s Perm Territory becomes a participant of the ILO project “Partnerships for youth employment in the Commonwealth of Independent States” for 2013-2016. Within the project’s framework Russia’s three regions will develop youth employment pacts.

Panel discussion - Youth migration and development: Moving Development forward
For this year’s International Youth Day 2013, the United Nations Secretariat (DESA) and the International Labour Office (ILO), with the support of the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund Secretariat (MDG-F), are co-organizing an event to celebrate the Day. The event will bring together young people, civil society organizations and UN and other experts to discuss issues relating to youth migration.
