An ILO report warns that millions of jobs could be lost in the Eurozone. Unemployment in the single-currency area could reach almost 22 million over the next four years, according to the "Eurozone jobs crisis: trends and policy responses". ILO TV interviewed Vincenzo Spiezia, Senior Economist at ILO's International Institute for Labour Studies, which authored the report.

The unprecedented youth employment crisis, aggravated by the global financial crisis, has created a renewed sense of urgency for action. The newly adopted resolution by the ILO annual Conference 'The youth employment crisis : A call for action' proposes vigorous action around a menu of policy options to respond to the challenges faced by young people today around the world.

José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Director of the ILO Employment Sector, warns that the situation that young people face in the labour market has not improved and it is not likely to ease anytime soon. Medium term projections up to 2016 suggest little improvement in youth labour markets.
