    The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Council of the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Health, and the ILO organized eight national public dialogues with a view to finding ways to build an integrated workplace response to HIV and COVID-19 in Indonesia. The dialogues promoted awareness on workers’ safety and health during the COVID -19 pandemic, and discussed ways as well as good practices of adopting an integrated approach to HIV and COVID-19 at workplaces in Indonesia.

Recognizing that large inter-state and rural to urban migration also aggravates the risk of HIV infection, migrant workers are a key focus of the National AIDS Control Programme in India.

The world of work response in Malawi was built around the SDG commitment of leaving no one behind. As part of the UN country team and in collaboration with the government, employers’ and workers’ organizations, the COVID-19 response in the world of work kept its focus on women and girls, people living with HIV, persons with disability and other groups in vulnerable situations.

  10. Improving the Workers’ Compensation System in Malawi

    Workers’ compensation in Malawi has faced challenges since its creation in 2000. This policy brief intends to propose 10 recommendations in making the workers compensation regime more efficient and effective. The Ombudsman’s 2018 report following an investigation into delays in processing of workers’ compensation claims provided the basis from which policy can be enhanced to address the pitfalls in the process. At the pinnacle of the recommendations is the fact that processing must be done by a Workers’ Compensation Commission that is well equipped and modernised with an established fund that is solely dedicated to processing of injury and/or death claims.

  11. Guidelines for an integrated health testing approach under VCT@WORK

    These guidelines, developed as part of the ILO’s ongoing Voluntary Counseling and HIV Testing for Workers (VCT@WORK), will help in adopting a more integrated approach to health, as recommended by the Sustainable Development Goal 3. An integrated approach will help in reducing stigma associated with HIV testing; and will enable workplaces to implement an overall health and wellness approach. Early diagnosis and treatment for HIV, tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases will avert premature deaths and will contribute to having a healthy and productive workforce, benefiting workers, enterprises, communities and local and national economies.
