XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work: "Building a Global Prevention Culture for a Healthy and Safe Future"

The World Congress, organized every three years since 1955, provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge, practices and experiences for all occupational safety and health specialists, employers and managers, trade unions, public administration, insurance and social security professionals, manufacturers and importers, as well as anyone with an interest in safety and health at work.

International Forum on Occupational Health and Safety: Policies, Profiles and Services
20 - 22 June 2011
The aim of the International Forum is to look into occupational safety and health policies and profiles and make an inventory, and then to continue with the introduction and further development of occupational health services, Basic Occupational Health Services in particular. In addition, time is reserved for discussing the practical tools for solutions and good practices. Our intention is to come up with recommendations for further actions for more sustainable solutions in the world of work.

16th Meeting of the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety

2011 World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Japan
28 April 2011
World Day in 2011 focused on the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) as a tool for continual improvement in the prevention of workplace incidents and accidents. Marking the day, ILO Office for Japan has created a Japanese portal page listing links to relevant information including past year events of the Day, ILO 2001 Guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems and OSHMS in Japan, thematic information on occupational safety and health as well as Japanese translation of the 2011 World Day report and other related materials.

Global Dialogue Forum on Safety in the Supply Chain in Relation to Packing of Containers

The purpose of the Forum is to reach a common understanding by all stakeholders of the underlining issues pertinent to the packing of containers and a better understanding of the reasons that lead to the application of poor practices in packing of containers that result in industrial accidents as well as to reach consensus on a common approach throughout the supply chain for the correct application and enforcement of the appropriate standards for packing containers.

This year, under the theme "Emerging risks and new patterns of prevention in a changing world of work" the day will draw attention on the current global challenges and the new context of occupational safety and health practice. It highlights technological advance, emerging workplace risks, and changing patterns of employment and workforce and thus, the need for new preventive approaches in facing these new challenges.
