    Foreign Employment Research and Promotion Training

    This technical training for representatives of Kiribati, Tuvalu and Nauru governments is aimed at increasing capacity of officials in Departments of Labour, embassy officers and other government staff, to provide a foundation for governments to develop the framework to carry out foreign employment market research and promotion. The training will cover information on foreign labour markets in low-skilled and semi-skilled occupations where there may be opportunities for decent work, and provide guidance on using information to promote and strengthen participation of workers in labour migration program.

    Enhancing the capacity of Pacific Island countries to address the impacts of climate change on migration

    Building on its mission to improve the capacity of constituents to protect migrant workers and enhance the management of migration, the ILO, in partnership with ESCAP and UNDP, is working on a project to develop the ability of Pacific Island countries to address the impacts of climate change on migration through well-managed, rights-based migration schemes and policy frameworks, supported by comprehensive research and knowledge building.

    Enhancing the Capacity of Pacific Island Countries to Address the Impacts of Climate Change on Migration

    The ILO works with partners to provide technical assistance and build the capacity of its constituents to protect migrant workers and manage migration flows effectively. Recently, the ILO, in partnership with ESCAP and UNDP, successfully secured $5 million in EC funding to enhance the capacity of Pacific Island Countries (Nauru, Kiribati, and Tuvalu) to address the impacts of climate change on migration through well-managed, rights based migration schemes and policy frameworks supported by comprehensive knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the Pacific Islands Region.
