  1. Preventing the exploitation of workers during recruitment: Regulation and enforcement models

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will present the main results of ILO and UNODC studies, and member States, workers and employers’ representatives and other key stakeholders will share practices to foster fair recruitment, prevent human trafficking and reduce the costs of labour migration.

  1. Course "Identifying and investigating cases of forced labour and trafficking"

    The main objective of the course is to train participants to better identify and investigate cases of forced labour, including trafficking for labour exploitation. The course addresses the different stages of the process (inspecting workplaces, interviewing victims, gathering evidence), with a focus on the private sector (textile, agriculture, domestic work, etc.).

  2. Training on Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in Malaysia

    8 - 10 April 2015

    Labour inspectors of the MOHR and other stakeholders participated in the training course on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons in Malaysia with an aim to better understand and identify indicators of forced labour in labour exploitation situations.

  1. Regional Conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in the ASEAN region

    Criminal justice and labour officers, inspectors and labour attachés from the ASEAN member states, social partners and other stakeholders participated in a regional conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons organized with an aim to enhance participants’ understanding of the labour migration management, labour exploitation and criminal justice elements of labour trafficking.

  1. Bondage, rights and voice in the Indian Ocean world, 16th century to present

    9 - 11 October 2014

    International workshop from the France-Quebec program, sponsored by ANR and FQRSC and coordinated by Alessandro Stanziani (CRH-EHESS) and Gwyn Campbell (McGill University). Scholars, activists, representatives of international organizations and NGOs will explore the relationship between historical and contemporary forms of servitude and human trafficking in the region and will interact to set a new research agenda and new policies orientations. Beate Andrees, head of the ILO Special action Programme to combat Forced Labour will give a presentation on “The Price of Having a Job. Labour Recruitment Practises in Global Markets”.

    ILO and the NGO Panos Europe Institute hold a training workshop on labour migration and human trafficking for the Al Jazeera network, familiarizing seasoned journalists and editors with with ILO standards and approach, in order to foster quality reporting on the issue worldwide.
