  1. ASEAN Regional Employers Workshop: Managing Labour Mobility for Inclusion, Innovation and Business Competitiveness, 9-10 May 2016, Siem Reap, Cambodia

    Managing workforce diversity, particularly in the context of labour migration, is an essential tool for improving business competitiveness. As an employers’ component of ASEAN TRIANGLE Project (ATP)’s Action Plan to fully engage employers’ organizations on labour migration processes in ASEAN, ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) adopted an employers’ policy framework for sustainable labour migration in ASEAN in 2013. The framework prioritizes five fundamental areas for business and policy decision makers. For the first four areas, regional workshops have taken place and background papers and policy position papers developed. This meeting is the fifth in this series on ‘Managing Diversity and Workplace Integration in the ASEAN Countries’.

  1. Capacity Building Workshop on Strengthening the Role of ASEAN Labour Attachés in Singapore, 26 April 2016, Singapore

    The International Labour Organization ASEAN TRIANGLE Project and the Philippines Embassy in Singapore are launching a series of consultations with labour attachés and embassy officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Viet Nam to strengthen dialogue between labour attachés and consular officials now posted in Singapore. The 1st consultation workshop is schedule to take place in Singapore on 26th April 2016. It aims at familiarizing labour attachés and consular officials on the functions and services provided by the various ASEAN embassies in Singapore on the protection of their migrant workers and to update the participants on recent developments on labour migration in the region. In addition, it aims at enhancing the capacity of ASEAN Labour Attachés in Singapore in providing service and protection for their migrant workers.

  2. Training of trainers: Financial education course for ASEAN migrants in Thailand

    The ASEAN TRIANGLE Project recognizes that providing financial education for ASEAN migrants and assisting them in addressing family and cultural issues are valuable interventions that could enable them to achieve their goals for migration, and empower them through better-informed planning and decision making.

  1. First Joint Meeting of the ASEAN Confederation of Employers and the ASEAN Trade Union Council

    8 - 9 March 2016

    Both ACE and ATUC have acknowledged the value of holding this joint meeting between ATUC and ACE to address emerging issues, build trust and put forward common positions to the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW) and Senior Labour Officials Meeting (SLOM).

  1. ASEAN Trade Union Council (ATUC) consultation on ASEAN integration and Labour Migration

    The ATUC Consultation on ASEAN integration and labour migration was attended by 21 representatives of 16 ATUC affiliates in eight ASEAN Member States, including participants from the International Trade Union Confederation Asia Pacific (ITUC AP), the International Labor Organization – Bureau of Workers Activities (ACTRAV), and the ILO ASEAN Triangle Project. The meeting noted the progress of actions on various points in the ATUC inter-union agreement and proposed joint actions for advocacy and implementation of programs for the promotion and protection of migrant workers in the ASEAN.

  1. Capacity Building Workshop on Strengthening the Role of Labour Attachés in Thailand: Ethical Recruitment

    The International Labour Organization ASEAN TRIANGLE Project and the Ministry of Labour, Thailand, have launched a series of consultations with labour attachés and embassy officials from Cambodia, Laos PDR and Myanmar now posted in Bangkok to strengthen dialogue between the ministry and labour attaches and consular officials. The third consultation of labour attaches, addressing the issue of ethical recruitment and hiring procedures, will be held on the 29th July 2015.

  2. Third technical meeting of focal specialists on international labour migration statistics in ASEAN

    1 - 2 July 2015

    The International Labour Migration Statistics (ILMS) Database in ASEAN was successfully published on 18 December 2014 as a special collection on the ILO’s central database, ILOSTAT, as well as through the APMigration web-portal.

  1. Saphan Siang Youth Ambassador Capstone Event

    To celebrate the achievements of Round II of the Saphan Siang Youth Ambassador programme, a Capstone (Graduation) Event was held on 5 June 2015 in Bangkok. The event was an opportunity for all twenty Youth Ambassadors and host organizations (CSO partners) to share their experiences; to reflect lessons learned and strategize the next steps of the programme; and for the Youth Ambassadors to present their proposed community outreach projects as part of their continued engagement with the campaign. Several of the campaign’s supporters, including UN-ACT and UN Women participated in the event.

  1. Task Force on ASEAN Migrant Workers - 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour  Regional Consultation Workshop

    The 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour theme: “Towards the ASEAN Community by 2015 with enhanced measures to protect and promote the rights of migrant workers” is held 20-21 November 2014 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The participants recommend concrete measures to promote and protect the rights of migrant workers specifically to fulfil the commitments of ASEAN Member States as required in the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers.

  2. Realizing a Fair Migration Agenda: Labour Flows between Asia and Arab States, Asia Tripartite Meeting

    Tripartite partners meet to develop origin-country inputs to an action plan for fair migration in Asia to Arab States labour flows.
